5 Best Celebrity Guest Stars on Glee

glee cameos

I’ve been a Gleek right from the very beginning. What exactly is a Gleek, you might ask? Well, as painful as it is for me to admit it, I’m totally and completely obsessed with people singing and dancing, placed within a ridiculously cheesy plot. Yes, that’s right, I love Glee. And me and my roommates basically cream ourselves every time it comes on. The cast is incredible, even though I do think Lea Michele is a little over used throughout the show. Regardless, one thing I do love is when they bring in  celebrity guests. Glee uses music from some of the most popular singers around today, take last night’s episode with Justin Bieber songs. But when a celebrity is added to the mix, the whole show seems that much more exciting. With that said, here is a list of the top 5 celebs that have performed on Glee.

1) Britney Spears:

Okay, so last semester I had class until 8 o’clock, which is right when Glee comes on. My friends and I actually begged our teacher to let us out early, that’s how much we needed to see this episode featuring Britney Spears. Anyway, I’m glad he did let us out, because this episode was a must-see! With sporadic appearances in the episode, and Britney Spears songs being sung throughout, I felt like I was reliving my childhood, seeing how I would dance around my room 24/7 listening to Ms. Spears. This episode was bomb.

2) Idina Menzel:

Besides being obsessed with Glee, I’m also obsessed with Wicked, or any type of Broadway musical, really. Yes, I know, I’m a total nerd. That’s okay though, at least I admit it. Well, when Idina Menzel, the first Elfaba from Wicked was cast as Rachel Berry’s (Lea Michele) biological mother, I fell in love with the episode. The performance that really did it for me was the duet sung by both Menzel and Lea Michele. It was their rendition of ‘Poker Face’ by Lady GaGa, and everyone knows, adding anything with GaGa always makes it better!

3)  Gwyneth Paltrow

Move aside Chris Martin, Gwyneth may be the next lead singer of Coldplay. I never even knew Paltrow could sing until she starred on Glee as the new substitute teacher at William McKinley High. She immediately took over Glee Club when Mr. Schue was out sick. With her own version of Cee-Lo Green’s, ‘Forget You,’ it was an unbelievable performance that eventually led her to singing alongside Cee-Lo at the Grammys.

4)  John Stamos

Reliving my “Full House” years was great when John Stamos made a guest appearance as both sexy dentist and Emma Pillsbury’s (the school shrink) newest boyfriend. Naturally, this made Will Schuester (Glee Club’s teacher) more than a little jealous. Anyone who loved “Full House” will love all the episodes featuring Stamos, particularly the one where they did their own version of “Rocky Horror.”

5)  Kristin Chenoweth

Chenoweth played the not-so-sober April Rhodes, who Will Schuester recruited back to high school to finish up her last couple of credits to earn her high school diploma. She obviously also helped out the Glee Club. With her drunken antics and funny personality, Chenoweth belted out many songs, including “Home” from the musical, “The Wiz.”
