5 Reasons Why You Should See Skrillex

If you are asking “who is Skrillex?”…then you should honestly click the “x” button on the top right corner of this web browser, because you probably still use AOL. Just in case you would like a brief run down, Skrillex is an electro/dubstep producer/DJ, who got his start as the front man of the best hardcore band of its time, From First to Last. I was given the chance to go see him at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, and it was the most intense, dirty, grimy bass show I have ever experienced. Here are the 5 reasons why you should see Skrillex.

The Music is Somewhat Tangible

When I was a child, there was a weird crackhead who would hang out by the local supermarket. Gerald used to like to give me life lessons like the way of the hobo, how to collect unemployment checks and how you could feel music. Skrillex made me realize that Gerald was actually onto something – I actually felt the music. The bass was so heavy and strong it felt like I was in a mosh pit of sound. When you walk around you feel every bump. It felt like I was on a roller coaster trapped in between 400 high school seniors, and I loved every illegal minute of it.

The Women (There are a lot of them)

All the girls at these shows like to dress up in tight and bright clothes that barely cover their hoo-has. Once you weed out the high school girls by looking for pink bracelets, it’s like an ocean of beautiful women, with pacifiers and awkward sunglasses. Also, for some reason the girls who go to these shows are extremely touchy-feely and a fun fact about myself is that I have truly irresistible and amazing hair that the ladies flock to, so needless to say I was in heaven.

Skrillex is the Freaking Man

This man commands the stage, if he wants you to feel like you are rolling face, he will make you actually roll face. If he wants you to rage, he’ll drop the beat so hard on your head you’ll feel concussed. I had photo passes to the event and he moved so fast that I couldn’t take a photo of him. The way he was moving and working the stage made me marvel at the fact that I will never be able to make music like him.

Dubstep Is The Newest Craze

If you didn’t already know or hear about MTV’s short-lived, not like high-school, high school drama Skins. Dubstep is sweeping the nation like the black plague. I personally didn’t think the show was going to be that big of a deal…and I was wrong. There were kids lining up around the building to get in. The only way I can explain to you how big of a deal Skrillex and Dubstep is with an analogy: Skrillex is to Dubstep as Elvis Presley was to Rock and Roll…a big frickin deal. I strongly suggest you listen and see Skrillex perform because he is out of this world.

By The Way, House of Blues is an Amazing Venue

This isn’t really a reason to see Skrillex as it much as it’s a reason to go to Atlantic City, but I don’t care. I have been to my fair share of venues but nothing holds a flame to the House Of Blues in the Showboat Casino. I was all over the balcony, the main floor and the photo pit. Everywhere I stood the acoustics were amazing. Also it’s in frickin Atlantic City AKA the poor man’s Las Vegas, so it’s guaranteed to be a good time. This was the first time I was at the Showboat and I was pleasantly surprised – I usually don’t find themed things cool, but they had the lowest minimums for betting then most of the casinos I have been to. I also strongly recommend that you order the House of Blues pulled pork sandwich…stuff was fuego.
