Summer is the time to show off that bikini body and indulge in a romance or two. However, that can be challenging with beauty problems that only heat and humidity can cause. What’s a woman to do who’s suffering from a plethora of heat-caused disasters? It’s important to stay on top of things, and take care of problems from the get-go.

Depending on the woman, there are a myriad of possible danger zones during the summer time. Here’s a look at six of the most common, and how they can be avoided or treated. Looking beautiful makes a person feel more confident and boosts their self-esteem. Why not make the most of this summer?

1. Frizzy Hair

Humidity is a real kill-joy, especially for women with natural curls or waves that get out of control during the summer. Consider running pure coconut oil through the hair before each wash, which not only makes it shiny, it also weighs it down just enough to fight the frizz. Try to wash hair only every 2-3 days (rinsing it with conditioner only in between is fine), and invest in some anti-frizz product like John Frieda’s complete frizz line.

2. Perspiration Marks

Unfortunately, little can be done about sweat stains. Some women go to the extreme and get Botox injections in their armpits, which works but is expensive–and a little controversial. Instead, choose a strong deodorant like Mitchum and pick colors that don’t show sweat stains.

3. Sunburns and Tan Lines

There’s only one real trick to looking young forever: Sunscreen. It should be used daily, applied throughout the day (summer or winter) and on all parts of the body that are exposed. If not, you’re setting yourself up for a lifetime of sun spots and wrinkles that will require various different treatments and could potentiall cause cancer. If it’s too late, aloe vera is the go-to cure for sunburns. Opt for a spray-on tan for those who really want the bronzed look, and avoid those damaging UV rays.

4. Abused Feet

Beach trips and constant strappy sandals can put feet through a real number. Regular pedicures are in order, and it’s easy to do this at home. Simply pick up a sloughing stone, cuticle pusher, file and clippers. There are many very affordable foot pampering products out there. For those who aren’t the best with polish, choose a clear coat or one with larger pieces of glitter (perfect for hiding messy paint jobs).

5. Clumpy Eyelashes

Lashes that look like spider legs are no one’s idea of gorgeous. If a waterproof mascara is just too much, use Vaseline instead of mascara. It’s waterproof, won’t smudge, and it’s easy to fan out lashes throughout the day. Otherwise, follow proper mascara application for the best results.

6. Lifeless Hair

Some women have the opposite of a frizz problem. Hair that gets dull and lifeless from sweat or the heat is just as unattractive. Keep it moisturized, regularly trimmed and try a leave-in conditioner for extra oomph. Skipping washes can help with volume, and a dry shampoo can work out those extra oily spots.
