A Shot of Yager: Podcast Interview w/ CAKE Frontman JOHN McCREA

John McCrea and his band Cake have managed to pull off an impossible feat in today’s day and age. After coming onto the scene in the early 90’s during the heart of the grunge boom, Cake stuck to their guns and crafted their own sound. This was a sound that did not fit perfectly with the other alternative rock that was ruling the world at that time. Their songs “Short Skirt, Long Jacket”, “The Distance”, “Never There” and most recently “Long Time” from their newest record titled Showroom of Compassion are unforgettable tracks that amuse the senses while captivating the imagination. Vocalist and songwriter John McCrea joins me to talk about the key to their longevity, why their songs work so well in movies and television, their iconic album covers and much more!

-Hear how John is tied to the opening theme song for MAD MEN

-Find out who does CAKE’s iconic album covers!
