When I was an infant my mother was obsessed with bows. She used to take what little hair I had and clip on a bow. Seriously, as soon as I grew my first few strands of hair they were put into bows.  As I got older she continued to bombard me with bows until I was old enough to tell her I had enough. In one instance I even remember going as far to tell my mother that I would never wear a bow again for the rest of my life. Well mom, I have some good news for you! Bows are back! And they are hotter then ever and they have become the perfect way to spice up some old boring pieces! I am not one to go back on my word but I think I am going to have to make an exception for this new trend.

Designers such as Lela Rose and Marchesa brought back the bow in their summer collections. They showed us bows ranging in all sizes and colors on almost anything and almost anywhere. These designers and many others presented us the idea that there is no wrong way to wear a bow.

I know what you are thinking. That’s interesting and all but how you can take a simple bow and turn it into a hot outfit!? It is all about being creative. There are tons of ways you can take an okay outfit and make it fabulous by adding one or two or even three (if your really feeling crazy).

First lets start simple. The traditional way to wear a bow is in your hair. Put on your hottest pair of jeans a sexy top and finish it off with a headband bow that will give you a sexy yet innocent Blair Woldrof look. If you are going for a sexier fun look, place bows throughout your just off the beach hair securing them with bobby pins. Something along the lines of a Serena Van Der Woodson hairstyle. For a more sophisticated look  (perfect for work) tie your hair back into a low ponytail and secure it with a hair band that has a bow attached. Giving a little something extra to a normally bland hairstyle.

My favorite thing is that you don’t have to buy anything new to participate in the trend. You can take what you already have and transform it by pinning on a few wherever you feel it looks best.

For example, say tonight you’re going to a hot club and you put on a black high wasted skirt, hot black heals and a black tank. Hot but boring! I don’t know about you but I am not a girl who likes to blend in with the crowd. What about adding a few hot pink bows to your skirt right at waist or at the seam or on the pocket? Do whatever you want. All you need is a bucket of bows and a few pins and you have endless outfit possibilities!

What about taking an old V neck Hanes t-shirt and pinning some bows on the sleeves or around the v? Scatter them around! Pair that with a pair of skinny jeans and a pair of sandals and you have yourself a great day look that is bound to get you noticed!

Bows can also vamp up old accessories. Every girl has that old bag they love but are bored of. Instead of dropping god knows how much on a new bag why don’t you decorate your old one with some hot bows. Take a scarf and tie it around the arms of your bag into a bow. Or even attach bows of different sizes along the straps.

Bows are not just a fashion trend they are a way to express your individuality and have fun with fashion. It is your chance to become your own fashion designer! Don’t be afraid to make a statement. Fashion is about making bold choices that will get you noticed.

Bows are no longer just something mother’s force on their infant daughters. Bows are whatever you want them to be!  My advice to you is to express yourself through your bows!
