The Official Campus Socialite 2011 MOCK NFL DRAFT

no thumb

Normally the NFL Draft is a joyous occasion for me: Pondering which rookies will be drafted when, figuring out which ones will have a fantasy impact, and just the overall combination of two of my favorite sports, college and pro football. Unfortunately, this may be the last relevant piece of NFL action we get for the 2011 year, so let’s hope the two sides can settle their differences and let the rookies join the party and more importantly keep my fantasy football keepers league alive.

Real Recognize Real: Interview With The Dudes from Comedy Central’s “Workaholics”

no thumb

After college kids graduate, one of their main concerns is finding a well paying job. These three young best friends brought their college lifestyle with them to their workplace. I got to sit down and interview Comedy Central‘s new hit television show Workaholics own Blake Anderson, Adam Devine, Anders Holm, and director Kyle Newacheck. Read up after the jump and definitely make it a priority to watch Workaholics Wednesdays at 10:30 PM on Comedy Central!

Q: You guys have an amazing friendship and chemistry, which allows for the first season of the show to be great right from the beginning. How long have you guys known each other, and has it always been this easy to play off each other, or is it something that developed over time?

A: We know each other so well that we play off each other. We live together and see each other every day. We live by the model “real recognize real,” we are hip-hop and punk rock, we are Lil Wayne without selling millions of albums.”

Workaholics

Q: How did you guys start acting?

A: We started doing Internet comedy together like 5 years ago, including random sketches which formed Mail Order Comedy.

Q: I notice that your characters have the same names as your real life personalities. Where did you get the motivation for each one of your individual characters, and do they draw from your real life personalities?

Anders: Yea they are basically ourselves. I am uptight, Adam is crazy and Blake is weird. We make fun of each other and put it on page, which helps the improv get to the next level.

Q: Now I know you don’t want to ruin the surprise, but is there anything in particular you guys are looking forward to in season 1?

A: For the world to see the wizard rapping act. We have an album on iTunes that hasn’t got the proper attention it should. All the real kids should go out and buy Purple Magic.

Workaholics

Q: Most of our readers are college students who can relate to your characters desire to keep the party going well after college is over. What are some of your craziest college stories?

Kyle : In college I invented this cereal that’s called Milkarti. It when you mix Bacardi with milk and add cereal to it.”

Blake: Something I really miss is bear bong: hitting the funnel with 1 beer followed by 2 beers then 3 beers and by the time you got to 4 beers you would start barfing everywhere.

Adam: Housing beers, we need to get back into housing beers. I don’t know where I started drinking like a normal person. We need to get a case of Natty Light and get real weird in a garage.

Q: Any advice for college seniors looking for jobs?

Blake: Play songs with an acoustic guitar on YouTube and get tons of pussy.

Adam: Stay in school forever, don’t get a job yet. Stay in school for as long as you can.

Kyle: Lie on your application. Work in retail and enjoy the 50% discount, a store like Foot Locker.

Q: Your characters are notorious for their duel partying lifestyle. Did you guys partake in any special activities for 4/20?

Kyle: Smoked a ton of weed, like a regular day just more aggressive about smoking weed.

Anders: I drove for a hour to get a Italian beef sandwich and a hot dog.

Adam: Went golfing.

workaholics-blake-bear

Q: Blake, Where can I get my hands on a bear coat like that?

Blake: Everybody’s asking me that, honestly there’s only one in existence. I guess you gotta skin a bear and make your own.

Q: Anything thing else you guys want the world to know?

A: Thanks for watching the show, party people. Sit down have a burrito, smoke a blunt and watch the show. Don’t forget to stay in school forever. And be sure to check out The Campus Socialite and Purple Magic by the Wizards on iTunes.

Were the Knicks Robbed in Game 1?

no thumb

Ray Allen has buried countless opponents in the past with his deadly three point shooting. Chalk the 2011 Knicks up to his kill count. With 13 second to go, Allen nailed a three, giving the Celtics a 87-85 advantage. However, the play was definitely controversial. The Celtics used a Kevin Garnett screen on Toney Douglas to free up Allen. Ronny Turioff did not rotate quick enough to defend Allen, allowing him to knock down the triple. Now, Douglas fell down on the screen, which clearly seemed like a tripping foul. The question begs to be asked, were the Knicks robbed in Game 1?

Mike D’Antoni took exception to two plays that went against his team in the final 21 seconds of Sunday’s 87-85 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of this first round series. The first was the offensive foul call that went against Carmelo Anthony, who was fighting for position with Paul Pierce in the left corner with 21 seconds left. The second one came on the ensuing possession, when it appeared Kevin Garnett set an illegal screen on Toney Douglas which freed up Ray Allen for the game-winning three-pointer.

“Well, in my eyes, I’m obviously biased,” said D’Antoni, who looked furious. “I thought [the offensive foul] was a tough call and I thought the call that Toney went flying trying to chase Ray Allen was a tough no-call. Those things happen. I’m not happy about it, but it happens.”

Within the last minute of the game, Carmelo Anthony was called on a very controversial offensive foul on Paul Pierce. The Knicks held a one-point lead and Anthony did not make a smart decision as he was jockeying for position. Carmelo also needs to realize that the refs will always tend to favor championship players on their home court. It’s not “fair”, but it’s human nature and it’s the NBA. While we are on this topic, Carmelo came up small in Game 1, shooting 5 for 18 from the field while committing five turnovers. He has got to pick it up for Game 2.

Overall, the Knicks played extremely hard on the defensive end, but failed to make a big play. The Celtics are going to get a call or two in their own building, but that’s basketball. The Knicks can expect the same thing when they come home for Game 3. (Please no more Rihanna ‘I’m Coming Home’ videos).

Knick fans, it’s time to move on. Yes, Toney Douglas was tripped on the Garnett screen, but the Knicks had an opportunity to tie or take the lead and failed to do so on the final possession. I’m concerned that the Knicks may come out a little flat tomorrow night, especially with the injury to Chauncey Billups and draining Game 1 loss. If the Knicks want to make a series out of this, they need to take Game 2. Until then, let Game 1 go, tip your hat to Ray Allen and get ready for tonight.

D’Antoni was in an ornery mood after the game and showed a much more defiant side of him we rarely, if ever, saw during the regular season. For instance, while he would normally downplay trash talking and things said by opposing players, D’Antoni unsolicited made reference to Glen Davis’ shot at Amar’e Stoudemire, Davis said “It’s really not that hard” to defend Stoudemire, when he talked about the monster game Stoudemire had.

“Amar’e was dominant,” D’Antoni said. “Somebody said something that he’s not as good as he was. I don’t remember somebody saying something like that, but anyway, he’s pretty good.”

Yankees Eighth Inning Drama : What Happened Last Night?

no thumb

rafael soriano

It’s baseball season and for Yankee fans, what’s better than watching your rival, the Boston Red Sox, start off the season 0-4. I’m sure Boston fans were laughing last night when the Yankees so-called extraordinary bullpen blew a 4 run lead in the 8th inning. Many of you saw the Yankees bullpen collapse in the eighth inning against the Twins last night. I was left dumbfounded when the eighth inning began. I was fine with Joe Girardi yanking CC Sabathia after seven innings of two-hit ball. His pitch count was at 105 and it was a very cold and windy April night. No need to push him when the Yankees held a four-run advantage. However, what I didn’t understand was Girardi’s bullpen selections.

Hot 97 host Angie Martinez sat down with rapper Lil Wayne to discuss a number of different topics. It was Weezy’s first time back on the show since his release from prison late last year. Interestingly, the Young Money rapper said he listened to Hot 97 while in jail almost every night. With their AM/FM Radios, inmates would “go to the club” with Hot 97 Live DJ’s on Friday nights. Wayne also discussed how the beat for Nicki Minaj’s “Did It On Em” was actually his at first, his love for Jersey Shore, and how he plans to retire at 35.

5 Reality Television Stars Who Could Be Potential Pro Wrestlers

With all due respect to the populous school of MTV’s “Real World” alums, nobody has used the odd celebrity attached to former cast members as successfully as Michael Mizanin, AKA “The Miz” from “Real World Back to New York.” The guy we used to watch drunk wrestling with his shirt off every other episode of “Real World/Road Rules Challenge” recently became the WWE world champion.

This got me thinking: What other reality television stars would make it in the World Wrestling Entertainment business?
