“It’s the first impression and will either open the door or close it…” – Nicholas Sparks

First dates are particularly important in the world of dating. A first date sets the tone for the rest of the relationship – given if there is one after the first date. The Campus Socialite Party: Were You There?

By Tony Peralez and Ann Redus (UTSA)

Success and nothing less? You betcha!

[nggallery id=40]

The Campus Socialite Party via the vivacious venue that is THE IVY Rooftop was vividly lit with a vernacular crowd that boasted of a UTSA signature, shrouded in veils of intoxicating hookah vapor chased by volumes of Y Vodka.

Cheesy I know, but adjectives that describe the atmosphere of the event with epitomic accuracy.  More pictures after the jump!

“The Hills” Season 6 Premiere Review

First of all, thanks to MTV for hiding Heidi’s face for us for as long as possible because the second I saw her distorted face , I had to stop eating. It’s not like I hadn’t seen her plastic body plastered all over cheesy magazine covers and tabloids but, luckily, I had forgotten about it for a while. I’ll probably have vivid nightmares tonight.

When Heidi’s mom first saw Heidi at her home in Crested Butte, CO, she compared Heidi to Barbie doll and for 2.5 seconds Heidi thought her mother was saying she was pretty. Ha, just kidding – that wasn’t a good thing. Poor Heidi, ya know? Here she is with all these body “issues” and her family is constantly cutting her down. At the dinner table Heidi’s stepfather said she looked frozen, but he wouldn’t use the word “plastic,” yet it was obvious that was the first thing that came to his mind. Poor… Poor… Heidi.

So Dallas picks up Dez Bryant in the first round. SWEET GRAB! Yeah maybe they needed some more help in the secondary, which yes they do need, but I personally am pretty excited about this pick. I’m a pretty big Longhorn fan down to my shoes but I have to say, I am incredibly disappointed with Roy Williams.  I don’t think anyone else I know has been as stubborn as I have been to stand beside him despite his drops, miscommunications, and poorly ran routes.  Maybe I’m truly the only fool in this state and the other 49 that think he still has some good to offer. But that’s not the topic of today’s column so we’re just going to skip right over all of the hypotheticals regarding number 11.  We’re here today to discuss Dez Bryant and that’s what we’re going to do.

Mr. Right? Or Mr. Right Now? Outlasting the Honeymoon Stage

In the beginning, relationships are full of excitement, passion, laughter, and no worries. You get butterflies in your stomach when they call, you can’t stop smiling, and nothing else seems to even matter. One month of dating turns into a few months… You have a toothbrush at their place and an extra pair of clothes. Date nights have gone from multiple nights a week to just a couple of nights, if that. A few months have turned into several months and those giddy feelings of infatuation have faded as quickly as the last few months have flown by. Unfortunately, it seems as though your honeymoon stage is over. The flight has landed and it’s time to unpack your backs so you can settle in for sex one night a week and pee on the toilet seat. What do you do when those incredible feelings of chemistry have been put out by the sands of time? You seem to be more annoyed and irritated than you are enjoying yourself. Little things like a messy toothpaste tube or how they hog the blanket just aren’t as cute as they once were. Once you’ve realized the fun part is over it becomes more and more difficult for both of you to stay when the past few months look brighter than the months to come.
