Nowadays, getting high isn’t just for teenagers, skater kids, and frat boys skipping class; it’s for anyone looking to relax, have a good time, and mellow out a bit. The marijuana culture in America has grown over the past few decades, with mainstream movies like “Half-Baked” and “Pineapple Express”, comedians and musicians openly acknowledging their use, and California leading the way for less strict usage laws and legalization.
Public figures are more open about whether or not they have smoked a joint, than they are about heavier drugs and for the most part, I think people tend to take marijuana as much less of a threat than other drugs. Even past Presidents have admitted to smoking weed, so it’s not unusual that some celebrities are more open about what they’ve tried and prefer.
Most people I know have done it, so why would celebrities who live in a world of access and privilege be any different? Here’s 5 different celebs who have been known to get high.
Justin Timberlake has never been photographed smoking weed, but basically confirmed the fact that he likes to light up every once in a while during an interview. When asked about his infamous “Punk’D” apperance, in the episode he believes all of his possessions are being taken away by tax authorities, Timberlake responded by saying, “”I’ll give you a little hint on that Punk’d thing. That was back in my first-album creative days. That’s why I looked the way I did, if that makes any sense to you.”
In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, Timberlake admits to being high when they taped the episode. When asked out front if he was stoned Timberlake said, “Incredibly. Yeah, that was a trippy experience. That was why I was completely glassy-eyed. As a matter of fact, I was like, okay, I got to stop doing this. I don’t do that anymore!”
I’m not sure if I believe JT when he said he doesn’t do it anymore, I mean how else would someone have come up with “Dick in a Box”?
Stories of Brad Pitt being a stoner have been around for as long as he has been on the radar in Tiseltown. Beginning with his first break-out role in “Thelma and Louise”, Pitt’s co-star Michael Madsen claimed that they would “get stoned out of our minds” before they went to set. Pitt is no stranger to on-set toking. In 2004 when Pitt was shooting “Oceans 12”, the script called for the cast to head to Amsterdam, a.k.a. heaven for pot-smokers. The cast shot at the coffeeshop “De Dampkring” and the owner told media outlets that Pitt and even George Clooney had visited the shop before to hang out and smoke.
Pitt’s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, has also been labeled a pot-smoker after admitting in a interview that she enjoys it once in a while. And according to the the tabloid, Star, Pitt’s and Aniston’s idea of a perfect night was one spent at home getting high.
Woody Harrelson has long been one of Hollywood’s most well-known stoners. In 1999, Harrelson narrated a documentary on marijuana called “Grass”. A long-time supporter of hemp and marijuana, Harrelson even put up $500,000 bail for 27-year-old cancer survivor and medical marijuana user, Todd McCormack, after he was arrested for cultivating marijuana in his home.
In 2007, photos of Harrelson and actor-pal Owen Wilson with a big bag of weed hit the internet. The photos show Harrelson and Wilson lounging around with girls in Miami, and a plastic baggie of something is not so discretely hidden underneath a pillowcase. Harrelson is also seen holding what looks like a joint, and well if you put two and two together, I don’t think it was a hand-rolled cigarette.
Pictures of Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron smoking “something” out of an apple were released back in 2001. The photos show Theron smoking out of a make-shift apple bong, how very high school of her. Since the shots show the actress holding a cigarette as well, I think it’s pretty obvious what she’s doing and smoking. So Charlize, did you eat the apple afterwards too?
I used to not like Kristen Stewart because she’s constantly biting her lip, doesn’t brush her hair, and never smiles, but then I saw a picture of her smoking pot on her front porch and my feelings changed. Wow, I thought, US Weekly wasn’t lying! Stars they really are just like us!
Hitting a bowl on her front steps, Stewart must have momentarily forgot she’s a movie star and that L.A. isn’t Amsterdam. Surprisingly, the backlash from Hollywood over the pictures wasn’t even that bad, and no one seemed to label her as a stoner chick. I guess reporters care more about Stewart’s relationship with co-star Robert Pattinson, than if she inhaled.
Stewart can also be seen in a picture rocking the weed-kini on a friend’s boat, a sure sign that she’s not just a casual smoker, but a big fan of the green. This is just speculation, but I don’t think people buy weed attire unless they can roll a joint and know the rules of puff-puff-pass.
