The magic carpet ride that Team USA has been on in these Olympics can best be described with one word, MIRACLE. No, it does not have the same nature as the 1980 US team beating the infamous Soviets But this team has a lot of the same attributes: young and highly motivated players, an underdog mentality and solid goal-tending. As we speak, the US men are one win away from the gold medal game. Not the Russians, with the likes of Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin, or the Swedes with Henrik Lundqvist and Peter Forsberg, but yessss, the Americans with guys like Dustin Brown? And David Backes? Yeah, not the common NHL names like Crosby and Gaborik, but they are getting it done, and doing it with an American blue collar mentality. Anyone who has been paying attention will tell you that no one has been more important to this team than goalie Ryan Miller.
The Buffalo Sabers net miner, has stolen the show in Vancouver and has proven himself to be one of the best in the world. He single handedly stole a game away from the hometown Canadians by saving 42 shots(against the likes of Crosby and Iginla) and standing on his head, which basically means he was freakin’ amazing.
In order for the US to move past the Fins and go to the gold medal game and eventually win, it’s going to have to be Miller Time all the time in Vancouver.
