Today is 7/24. Kevin MacDonald and Ridley Scott, both established filmmakers, want you (yes, YOU) and your friends to pick up cameras and document your day. The trials and tribulations, the “sunrises and sunsets.” The project is called Life in a Day, “a historic global experiment to create a user-generated documentary film shot in a single day.”

Social media has truly blasted off in different directions. With Facebook and Twitter and other social media outlets people around the world have been given the opportunity to document their lives online; MacDonald and Scott are giving you the same opportunity here, but on camera.

Crazy things happen everyday and I rarely get the chance to document them, now is my chance, YOUR chance. Meet new people, do something unusual, rock out in your car… just don’t break any laws guys!

In order to participate you must be at least 13 years old and have your own YouTube account, so you can upload your footage. The videos should be recorded between 12:01am and 11:59pm in your local time zone on July 24, 2010. If you’re thinking about joining in on the fun, make sure you submit your videos by next Saturday, July 31st! For other guidelines, check out the FAQ page.

Grab a camera and hit the streets, this may be your chance for 15 minutes of fame! I know I’ll be doing this on Saturday, will you?
