March Madness Continues : Brackets Busted

I am still alive!!!!  After a dominating first round, I was in first place in both of my pools with a great outlook.  Then came the second round and a few unfortunate last second losses.  Like many of you out there, I thought i was done.  Time to root for North Carolina (my favorite team) and enjoy the games for fun.  Then, the Sweet 16 happened….

The Sweet 16 was filled with Bracket Busting Madness!  We lost two Number 1 seeds in Duke and Ohio State and saw Number 11 VCU and Number 8 Butler advanced to the Elite Eight.  Since I had picked Texas over Duke and Kentucky over Ohio State, I was right back in the game.

Kentucky pulled off the upset over Ohio State on an amazing jump shot by Freshman Brandon Knight in the waning moments of a back and forth slugfest.  Kentucky will now face Number 2 seed North Carolina with a chance to reach the Final Four after UNC destroyed Marquette.

On Saturday, Arizona defeated Duke behind an outstanding performance by Derrick Williams, who cemented his position as a top pick in next year’s NBA Draft.  He will now play against the best player in the nation over the past month, Kemba Walker and the UCONN Huskies.  Walker has been unstoppable and we haven’t seen a run like this in a long time.

Kansas rolled Richmond easily and continues there cake walk to what appears to be an inevitable run into the Final Four.  Florida meets Butler in the final Elite Eight Matchup.

So, for at least one more day, I am alive and kicking in both pools.

And the Madness continues…….
