On the verge of the start of the NFL playoffs, everyone wants to know which team will run through the playoff bracket and hoist the Lombardi trophy on February 6th. Look no further because the “Better Half Bracket” will predict the future.
The premise is simple: the bracket consists of one significant other of a player or coach from each respective playoff team. These fine ladies will duke it out throughout the playoffs, predicting the outcome of each playoff round, culminating with a Super Bowl Champion. The NFL bracket remains intact, and the seeds, match-ups, and potential match-ups will be accurate, so that we can crown a champion. Got it? Good.
Sarah Hasselbeck is the wife of Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck. While she’s not exactly a looker, she was an All-American field hockey player at Boston College, and was once struck by lightning and lived to tell about it.
Jessica Simpson is currently engaged to former Saints tight end Eric Johnson. While the rules are being slightly bent with her inclusion in the field, she certainly adds an interesting twist to the bracket. Formerly the girlfriend of Cowboys QB Tony Romo, Simpson’s NFL experience is unmatched, and she may be able to manage more playoff wins then her ex-boy toy.
A newcomer on the scene, Karlie LeRoy is the high school sweetheart of Colts rookie Blair White. She was a standout college basketball player at Northwood University in Michigan. While no one can question the blond bombshell’s looks, her youth (23-years-old) and inexperience at this level could prove costly in the postseason.
Michelle Ryan is the now rather famous wife of Jets head coach Rex Ryan. She has been the talk of the internet due to some rather lewd and compromising pictures and photos of her that have surfaced recently. Wild foot fetishes be damned, she is going for blood in the playoffs, aiming to prove the doubters wrong.
Susie Johnsen Celek represents the Philadelphia Eagles, and is the wife of Philly tight end Brent Celek. Not a lot is know about this broad, but based on the above picture, she is definitely someone you don’t want mess with.
Despite the uproar around Aaron Rodgers’ latest love interest, it is back-up QB Matt Flynn’s girlfriend, Lacey Minchew, who gets the nod as the Green Bay Packers entry. She happens to be a former member of the LSU Tiger dance team, but more importantly is a former Miss Louisiana.
Kelli Croyle busted (pun intended) onto the scene during HBO’s Hard Knocks featuring the Kansas City Chiefs in 1997. Her southern belle charm, coupled with her stunning looks do wonders in counterbalancing her husband’s (QB Brodie Croyle) terrible on-field performance and his more than questionable durability.
While not officially married to superstar tight end Tony Gonzalez, October Gonzalez and her “husband” did go through a commitment ceremony a few years back. She, like the above Croyle, was a prominent feature on Hard Knocks in 2007 when her hubby played for Kansas City.
Baltimore Ravens’ wives and girlfriends are hard to find, but the franchise has a quality representative in Leigh Anne Tuohy. If you recognize the name it’s because she is the adopted mother of Ravens offensive lineman Michael Oher, whose life was chronicled in The Blind Side. Tuohy was portrayed by Sandra Bullock in the hit movie, and if her strong-willed character in the flick was at all accurate, she should be feared by potential opponents.
Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is perhaps the most well known representative in the Better Half Bracket. The Victoria’s Secret covergirl is married to New England Patriots QB Tom Brady, and has the uncanny ability to make small pieces of silk and lace come to life, making her a feared opponent in the playoffs.
Former Laguna Beach and The Hills star Kristin Cavallari joins the playoff scene due to her status as the girlfriend of Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler. She brings some west coast flavor to the Monsters of the Midway, which could be useful, as they look to make a deep playoff run.
Ashley Harlan is another newcomer to the NFL scene. Her recent engagement Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is a bit of an enigma, given that Big Ben has endured multiple sexual assault allegations over the past few years. While not much is known about Harlan, it is clear that she is both fearless and a risk taker, making her a tough opponent in the postseason.
Now that you know the players, make sure to come back on Friday to see who comes out on top as these ladies fight through the Better Half Bracket to give us a predicted Super Bowl Champion!
