Where Sacred Heart Goes To Party – The Page Bar

The Page Bar

I can admit the off-campus bars and nightclub scene has been very upsetting and off-pace this year at Sacred Heart University, but a former sports bar turned mini-club is the current jump-off. Since freshman year of college, “The Page” has rapidly switched owners and names but the students continue to pour in.

Almost every Thursday night, junior and senior Sacred Heart University students pack this bar almost to capacity. Students are usually waiting on long entrance lines before they are patted down and frisked. Underclassmen usually make a showing as well, fakes and older student’s ids are guaranteed to work, especially if you have a pair of tits. Entry is $5 for men and free for girls before 11PM. Police continually are posted up outside, being that the bar is in the heart of the lower income and poverty-filled Bridgeport, CT.

I can recall a couple different situations that went down at “The Page”…

The Page Bar 2

Last week to be precise, a bouncer and a junior from Sacred Heart, Lauren, got into an argument which eventually escalated into a physical altercation. The bouncer soon grabbed Lauren from behind and tried to make his way out the door with her. This is where the ruckus began. Lauren’s friends were all out at the bar that night. Lauren’s best friend’s boyfriend and friends didn’t think Lauren should be touched or treated like this. They immediately took action and tried to get the bouncer off of Lauren. They first grabbed the bouncer and starting throwing hooks until eventually the bouncer let go of Lauren. At the time, Lauren’s guy friends all thought it was a good idea to pounce on him and make him regret his actions. The craziest part is yet to come…the owner ultimately made his way over to this altercation and quickly took the bouncer and removed him from the bar. I don’t know if the owner fired the bouncer or just told him to go home for the night, but why get mad at the bouncer? Wasn’t he just doing his job and controlling the wild college crowd? This is one of the many reasons Capri (another name for “The Page”) is so legendary. Normally Lauren and her guy friends would have been thrown out of the bar, but at “The Page,” the bouncer was tossed, leaving the students to their ultimate goal of partying.

Another reason why I keep going back to “The Page”…

Girls at The Page

Another regular Thursday night during the semester and the bar was packed. It’s early during first semester so the weather is still fairly nice. I ventured outside with some buddies of mine for a cigarette break. We had to find a spot to post up and chill outside because the bar was so overly crowded. We posted up right next to an outside bar and a stripper pole, thinking nothing of it. Obviously, before the end of the night multiple drunken girls were up there showing the whole school their private parts. Until one girl made this an night epic that I won’t forget. She started dancing on the stripper pole (P.S. I have been attending this bar since freshman year and this was the first time I saw a girl actually putting on a show on the stripper pole). A lot of my guy friends thought she was too good of a dancer to be an amateur. They started yelling, “Take it off,” or, “Show what your momma gave you.” She then continued by taking off her clothes. First came the shirt, followed by the bra, followed by the pants, until she was wearing only a thong. After she was done with her 10-minute show, all the males who were outside showed their appreciation by cheering for nearly 2 minutes. While the girls probably started to gossip to their friends inside, who missed this leisure act.

Last but not least, this bar will always be close to my heart since not only did I have my first college hook up here…I hooked up with 3 roommates in the same night at this place. “The Page” is and should always be the  Sacred Heart University student favorite.
