Socialite Approved Releases (September 26th – September 30th, 2011)

Movies: 50/50 (9/30/11)

50-50

Summer comedy/action season is officially over, but just because we’re entering the cold weather, tundra of drama season, doesn’t mean we can’t have a few laughs now and then. 50/50 is the based on a true story of a 20 something kid (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who’s diagnosed with cancer. Lucky for him, his best friend happens to be played by Seth Rogen, and the two decide that they will use humor to help stay positive and fight the disease. On first glance, it looks like exactly what it aims to: Very intense, very buddy-buddy, drama that will make you laugh against your better judgement. The perfect transition from summer into fall, and with JGL and Seth Rogen, this one is an opening-nighter for me.

TV: How To Be A Gentleman (9/29/11)

how to be a gentleman

If you were just going by titles, How To Be A Gentleman would sound like the lamest show of the season. That’s the great thing about irony, the show is basically the opposite of how to be a gentleman, especially considering it stars Johnny Drama himself, Kevin Dillon. The show is about an “Etiquette Columnist” (David Hornsby) who needs to add more of a sexy twist to his writing. Essentially he has to stop being such a pussy and become a real dude. He hires Kevin Dillon, a gym owner/personal trainer to be his life coach on all things manly. I’m curious to see how this show defines manly, and if Johnny Drama is as good out of Entourage as he is in it. Definitely worthy of a shot though.

Video Games: FIFA 2012 (9/27/11)

 fifa-2012

Not gonna lie, if the World Cup isn’t going on, I could care less about Soccer. FIFA however, is a different story. Hope you’re sick of Madden already, because FIFA 12 looks frickin revolutionary. Apparently the players look more realistic, and the computer intelligence has been serious refined to ensure you get some competition when you’re not playing your friends. Computer players will be more aware of their own strengths and weaknesses and those of their specific opponents. Another big step is serious upgrades in the realm of Precision Dribbling, making Ball Control both easier and more in depth. Look for more FIFA articles tomorrow, maybe even later today. For now, get on line.
