Sometimes Being Pretty Can Get Ugly

This world is full of people who criticize one another because they feel insecure about themselves. I am talking specifically about women because men don’t usually gossip about each other. In fact, women are so catty that the reason they may not like someone is because “that girl” wore a hot pink top to a black and white party. Whether the age is 20 or 40, women need to be careful whom they confide in because girls are bitches and that’s the way it is.

I was reading an article about a woman that was fired for being “too pretty.” Then I started to think about it and realized that maybe being too pretty can be ugly.

Here are some reasons I came up with on why being pretty can get, well…ugly

1) Not having a lot of girlfriends

There is one word that says it all… jealousy. Girls are green with envy and that’s just the way it is. If you hear a girl talk stuff about someone and have literally no reason to hate her, they are just frickin jealous. It’s unfortunate that girls are so mean to each other, however my approach is to just say “fudge it” and be friends with dudes. They are cooler and won’t make fun of your hair color.

2) Sometimes, guys won’t take you seriously

Sometimes guys want you for one thing and one thing only… a piece of ass. Therefore, if you are trying to date someone and all they want to do is have sex with you, then sorry sweetheart – you’re just another notch to add onto his bedpost.

3) Fired for being “too pretty”

There was a woman named Debrahlee Lorenzana who was fired from Citibank for being “too pretty.” The bosses said they could not concentrate on work because her appearance was too “distracting.”

4) Boyfriend jealousy

Guys can be very insecure about themselves and their relationships and if they have a pretty girlfriend it is hard for them to be confident as they are often concerned with their girlfriend and her loyalty.

5) Pressure leading to diseases

When you are pretty, you are expected to stay that way. This may lead to depression, stress, and diseases. Anorexia, bulimia, you name it. It has been known that girls feel so much pressure to stay thin that they literally risk their lives to maintain a certain body image.

6) Perverts

Unfortunately there are many perverted men out there, both young and old, that feel the need to say disgusting things to a woman to get her attention. It can be very uncomfortable and degrading.

7) Addicted to plastic surgery

Some women, well older women, get Botox to get rid of the wrinkles on their face – this is understandable.  Now, take a look at Heidi Montag who took it just a bit overboard with her 10 plastic surgeries in a day marathon and had breast implants, collagen lip injections, a nose job, brow lifts, ear-pinnings and a chin reduction.  Women can become so obsessed with maintaining a youthful look that they destroy their bodies with unnecessary surgery – don’t be like Heidi.

So remember ladies, try not to put so much pressure on being beautiful because it’s whats on the inside that counts.  Stay tuned for my next article, where I take a look at this topic from the opposite perspective in a column titled “It’s Not Ugly Being Pretty.”
