Sweden Plans to Create the Biggest Indoor Ski Mountain Ever

Ski360 in Sweden

I don’t know about all of you, but if there is anything about the winter I am pumped for it’s that snowboarding season is almost here.  Living in New York, you know that for the 3 or 4 months a year when you can actually hit the mountains with powder, you really need to take advantage of it.  Grind out weekend sessions whenever you can, just make sure you are back on the couch by Sunday for football.  I came across Sweden’s plan to create the biggest indoor Ski Mountain ever. After doing some research it seems like a pretty dope solution to my grind it out winter snowboarding seasons.

Skipark 360 will be the longest indoor ski slope in existence measuring 2,297 feet long and standing 443 feet high.  Skipark 360 is Sweden’s solution to global warming which has been blamed for the below average ski seasons that they have recently been feeling. The park going to host additional activities including a snowboard snow park, an ice rink, cross-country trail, shops spas and hotels.  They also better somewhere serve a mean clam chowder soup.  Not sure what it is but something about clam chowder and skiing just go together for me. Anyways, to power this monster development the designers of the park envision 100 percent of the energy coming from renewable sources such as the sun and wind. Construction on the park is set to begin at the end of 2013 and is estimated to cost between $219-292 million.  Now if they can only put one of these smack in the middle of NYC we’ll be in business.  Sweden is definitely a destination  to consider when choosing where you want to study abroad in a couple years.
