Sync Your iTunes With Your Liquor Cabinet By Using Drinkify

It’s inevitable: you’re listening to your favorite band and you just want a delicious, liver-killing substance to match exactly what’s playing. The website Drinkify, which combines The Echo Nest (a platform which helps to sort bands and music based on more dynamic characteristics besides just their genre) and Last.fm, gives you drink recipes catered to whatever band you want to drink to. Simply type in any music artist you want and it’ll shoot you back a drink that’ll match perfectly (or not so perfectly).

While you’ll get a few drinks that match, like a PBR with a twist of orange for Cobra Starship, and a bottle of Champagne for The Notorious B.I.G., you’ll also get a few that aren’t even close. I plugged in Flogging Molly, only to be told that I should drink a glass of Pinot Noir. What the fudge? Really, Drinkify? A french wine for an Irish-folk punk band? You’re not even going to tell me that I should drink a Guinness with a shot of whiskey poured in the neck? Come on, Son.

A few other drinks include:

1. The Adele

2 oz. Vodka
2 oz. Coconut milk
1 oz. Honey
Combine in highball glass and serve. Garnish with cucumber.

2. The Cee-lo

1 bottle Hennessy

3. The Skrillex

4 oz. Marijuana
Serve on rocks. Stir quickly. Garnish with willytail onions.

All in all it’s a great idea, and hopefully it gets better with use.  So pull up your most eclectic playlist, load up Drinkify, and be prepared to make a few runs to the liquor store.
