Syracuse vs. UCONN – NCAA Basketball Local Rivalries (Infographic)

The #17 Syracuse Orangemen (18-4, 5-4 Big East) will visit their conference rival #7 UCONN Huskies (17-3, 5-3 Big East) on Wednesday at 7:00pm ET. Junior UCONN guard Kemba Walker is tied for second in the nation in scoring with 24.4 points per game. The Bronx, NY native leads an offense that also features sophomore forward Alex Oriakhi, whose 9 rebounds per game contributes to the 6th best rebounding squad in the country. Syracuse relies on more of a balanced attack on offense with four players averaging more than ten points per game and coach Jim Boeheim’s infamous zone defense. The Orangemen started the season 18-0 before losing their past four games to #4 Pittsburgh, #7 Villanova, unranked Seton Hall and Marquette. This game features the always-intriguing coaching matchup between Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim and UCONN’s Jim Calhoun, widely respected as two of the premier generals in the game at any level.
