The Internet Is Over, Well According to Prince Anyway

Can we have a round of applause for Prince, he’s caught Megan Fox syndrome, no not the insane hotness. I am talking about the fact that most of the time when she opens her mouth word vomit flows like a river. Well Prince must’ve downed some of that purple drank before talking to reporters because he thinks the Internet is done.  The icing on the cake was as soon as I sat down to write this article… my Internet stopped working.

Two hours without any connection to the outside world (with the exception of my phone) was horrible. I think what Prince meant to say was he can’t live without the Internet and that it’s the best thing to happen to the world since the invention of the light bulb.

In an interview with the daily mirror, the artist formerly known as…or known as Prince, I really don’t know anymore, said that “The Internet’s like MTV,” the star said to the Mirror’s correspondent. “At one time, MTV was hip, and suddenly it became outdated.”

I wouldn’t say that MTV is exactly outdated, I think it has more or less adapted to the culture of the world. Back then the world needed an escape to watch music videos, now we’re a culture obsessed with pop culture and reality TV.  Yes, maybe they created that obsession, but they are good at what they do.

I think the real reason the Internet is “over” according to Prince is because in our Internet obsessed culture he is… forgotten. No offense to any Prince fans out there, just like all the greats there will come a time where you need to step aside and let the younger people do their thing. Without Prince there would be no Lady Gaga or other artists like them. They are so different yet so alike at the same time, so I don’t want this so be a blast to his musical contributions, just his methods of distributing said music.

This whole mess started when Prince decided he didn’t want to sell his music online, that he’d rather have his fans buy an actual CD. iTunes is my friend and it’s the only way most of the people I know buy music. Hell, it’s how most people learn about new artists, so basically Prince is closing himself off to an entire demographic…that sucks for him.

So, sorry Prince, but the Internet isn’t outdated…you are and from now on every time I have problems with my Internet I’m probably going to blame you. Just like when you played in the Super Bowl halftime show and the Bears lost the game… IT’S YOUR FAULT! I know it’s been a few years now, but it still stings.
