Here’s a thought: Let’s run around telling women, “No means yes, yes means anal.” That’s exactly what several pledges of the Delta Kappa Epsilon chapter at Yale University did last October. The chapter has been battling the school’s Executive Committee for violating undergraduate violations ever since. Yesterday, Dean Mary Miller revealed the committee’s decision to issue sanctions to fraternity members and impose penalties that stop the DKE chapter from recruiting members or doing anything associated with Yale for five years. The DKE national organization has also been asked to suspend the Yale chapter for five years.
This is the same chapter George W. Bush and Bush Sr. pledged. Are we surprised? Tough titty for the Yale DKE men. Here’s an excerpt from Yale Daily News:
The DKE incident sparked a year-long debate on campus about Yale’s sexual climate and the University’s response to instances of sexual misconduct. Deeming the fraternity’s antics as the“last straw” in a long chain of public incidents, a group of 16 students and alumni filed a complaint with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, claiming that Yale violated Title IX regulations — a federal law that prohibits gender discrimination in schools that receive federal funding — by allowing a hostile sexual environment to persist on campus. On Mar. 31, the complainants announced that the OCR had officially opened an investigation into the University’s policies on sexual harassment.
I guess this means no more chants about “yes meaning anal.”
