Walking through the quad on my campus never felt so good, it’s alive with people again. Everyone is out trying to promote their club or group making it easier than ever for freshman or transfers to find their niche. No matter what the group I think it’s important for people to get involved, because you’re doing something other than going to class and sitting in the library and you’re also meeting people.
Those bright colored pieces of paper that you see hanging everywhere, yeah they aren’t garbage they are usually telling you about some fun group to join or telling you to go Greek. Most people don’t take the time to actually stop and look at these unless there is a person handing them out, but there could be something that interests you.
Here are the top ten reasons to get out there and get involved:
- School spirit
- More people to party with
- Gives you a break from studying
- Develop leadership and communication skills
- Have a more enjoyable college experience
- Mature personally, socially, and intellectually
- Free T-shirts, Free events! Free food! Did I forget to mention that it’s FREE?!?
- To gain experience and build your resume
- Learn more about yourself and others
- Lifelong friends
So what are you waiting for? Go out there and get involved and don’t forget try to maintain a balance schedule so things don’t conflict if they do just move on and try again getting involved is all about having fun.
